Barnhill Receives 2026 National Traffic Safety Award

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Barnhill Contracting Company has been recognized by the National Safety Council with a 2026 Excellence in Traffic Safety Award through its Our Driving Concern North Carolina Employer Traffic Safety Awards program. The award honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, employee engagement, innovation and measurable results in roadway safety.

Barnhill was recognized for its proactive approach to safety and the company’s commitment to making safe driving a core part of its culture. According to the National Safety Council, Barnhill’s motto, “Don’t Learn Safety by Accident,” is reflected in its routine policy updates, layered safety solutions and dedication to keeping safety at the forefront of every worksite and roadway traveled.

As outlined in the award submission, Barnhill supports safe driving through defensive driving training, driver mentoring programs, real-time telematics and camera technology, daily safety huddles and ongoing employee recognition programs. The company also partners with organizations such as the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Carolina Asphalt Pavement Association to enhance training and promote safe driving practices.
